What is in Green Peel®?
Green Peel® - Herbal Deep Peeling Treatment consists of a special blend of plants and natural herbs. In contrast to other exfoliating creams or methods, it does not contain any chemicals or synthetic peeling agents.

How does Green Peel® work?
Unfortunately under TGA regulations we cannot answer this question as the Green Peel® is classified as a cosmetic, not registered as a therapeutic, so we are not allowed to claim, for example, that it penetrates into the skin and alters any bodily process, such as accelerating the natural month-long regenerative cycle of the skin.

The Green Peel® treatment involves gentle peeling the outer layers of skin, while providing the extremely sensitive newly growing skin with nutrient-rich protection from the harsh, drying, pathogen-laden external environment.

How does Green Peel® differ from other peels?
All acid peels and laser treatments merely burn away the epidermis. The dermis - raw, sensitive skin underneath the epidermis - is not only subjected to these harsh chemicals, afterwards it is completely unprotected from drying out or infection, nor is it supplied with the added protection (as it is with the Green Peel®). Patients are swathed in bandages and advised not to go outside, for example, in useless attempts to minimise the damage done to their raw, mistreated skin. As you can imagine, this new skin is hardly going to look fantastic when it has already been subject to such an ordeal!

Is Green Peel® safe?
It is perfectly safe and has no side effects. It also has over 40 years of research behind it, and thousands of procedures have been performed without incident. It is so gentle, that even if the herbal preparation should inadvertently come into contact with the eyes, it will not cause them to sting or water.

How does the skin peel when no chemical substances are used?
Again, we cannot answer this question due to TGA restrictions on claims made in relation to cosmetics products.

The Green Peel® mixture contains natural ingredients proven elsewhere as circulatory stimulants, as gentle exfoliants, as absorbable by the skin, and as anti-inflammatory.

How does the skin look after the treatment?
After the treatment, for a couple of days, the skin may be red and slight irriation similar to a mild sunburn may be experienced.

Three to four days later…exfoliated skin begins falling away. During this time you can work normally and should not need to take time off, but most find it best to schedule these days to fall on weekends when there is not much to do.

On the fourth or fifth day…a follow-up treatment takes place. We will massage and use a rich active preparation on the new skin, which is now very absorbent. There is no redness on the resurfaced skin. The complexion is considerably improved—fresh, clear and radiant.

Each person will respond differently to the Green Peel® depending on their metabolism. The vast majority peel on days four and five, but in exceptional cases peeling can come on day three, or not at all. The extent of peeling is not indicative of the success of the peel due to the complexity of the treatment.

The Dangers of Acid-based and Laser-based Skin Peeling Treatments

Skin "peeling" is about removing the visible outer layer of the skin (the epidermis): the old, hardened, dead skin cells which serve as a barrier between your body and the outside world. Underneath the epidermis is the living dermis layer of the skin, where all the cells in your skin are produced. The singular function of the epidermis is to protect the dermis from infection and dehydration. Scarring is what happens when the dermis cells are damaged.

Acid and laser peels simulate first-degree skin burns. Their aim is to burn away the epidermis. If not administered precisely, there is nothing stopping the treatment continuing to burn through into the dermis. Such precise administration is made difficult by the fact that the practitioner can only guess as to the thickness of your skin, and therefore how long to apply the treatment. If they guess wrong, you are left with scarred skin.

Additionally, acid and laser peels leave the dermis exposed to damage, by airborne infection and dehydration, for days afterwards.

We advise every single person considering a skin peel to avoid acid and chemical peels.

Whatever the skill and experience of the practitioner, the risk they pose to your skin is just too great. We have seen countless examples of scarring caused by these treatments - and those victims who are not put off skin peels altogether come to us for the visible scar reduction effect of Green Peel®. There is a much safer and more natural alternative to acid and laser peeling in the Green Peel®.

WHY WE CAN'T SAY MORE: LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATORY INFORMATION

We know how the Green Peel® works: we are just prevented from stating it.

The Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 (Cth) makes the distinction between cosmetics (which only affect the appearance of the body) and therapeutics (which alter a bodily process). Under the regulations attached to the TG Act, it is an offence to make a claim of therapeutic value for a non-therapeutic product. This distinction between 'cosmetic' and 'therapeutic' is entirely artificial, and is wrong: our skin absorbs all manner of molecules from our environment, and all manner of molecules affect our bodies, in ways that we know about and many more that we haven't yet discovered.

For example, every liquid or emulsion cosmetic product contains water (even if it is called something pretentious such as "aqua"). We all know from when we spend too long in the bath or shower, that our fingers get that crinkly, wrinkled look: our skin absorbs water due to the phenomenon of osmosis. Water alters many physiological indicators and processes: it will dilute our blood and alter blood pressure, it will affect our secretion of ADH* and therefore alter how frequently we urinate, etc.

Therefore, because every cosmetic product contains this ingredient that has therapeutic value, there is no such thing as a cosmetic that does not alter a bodily process.

Of course, there are many other ingredients in cosmetics that alter body processes, especially the synthetic compounds added to most cosmetics that can cause allergic reactions, sensitisation, irritation, toxicity, carcinogenesis, xenoestrogenic effects, and many more effects that human investigation has not yet revealed.

* ADH = Anti-Diuretic Hormone; this is secreted when blood plasma volume is low (e.g. when we are dehydrated); it acts on the kidneys to alter salt reabsorption in the distal tubule, and therefore increase the body's retention of water.
In the example above, increased absorption of water through the skin increases blood plasma volume and therefore leads to decreased secretion of ADH; as a result, we would urinate more frequently: an alteration of a bodily process.
